Wedding Banquet at Sime Darby Convention Centre

December 23, 2008

The Chinese food at Sime Darby Convention Centre is awesome!

Generous servings and very tasty.

Fish and prawns were really fresh too.

A great venue to consider in your list of venue sourcing for large banquets.

I was really happy with the speed of their servings.

Their food presentation, however, was quite plain and simple.

Lighting system has its limitation though, but if you are not planning for fanciful effects, then its current house lights should be adequate.

Ample parking space for your guests, and best of all, it’s free!

Fusion Menu for a Chinese Banquet

July 26, 2008

The Menu

Hot and Cold Dish Combination

Braised Winter Melon Soup with Assorted Seafood

Hong Kong Style Herbal Chicken with “Foong Lut”

Deep Fried Prawns with Wasabi Mayonnaise Sauce

Deep Fried Sea Bass with Thai Mango Sauce

Braised Asparagus with Two Varieties of Mushroom

Garlic Fried Rice with Diced Chicken

Créme Brulee with Fresh Honeydew, Mango, Strawberry and Peach

Chinese Tea

Coffee or Tea

With a reception of 690 guests who gathered at the Mayang Seri Ballroom of JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur, Jennifer and Chee Kam wanted their menu to have some unexpected flavours from the usual Chinese 8-course banquet.

Adding a zest of adventure while remaining safe with some traditional favourites to please the palettes of guests from different background and age group, they chose to infuse some Japanese, Cantonese, Thai and Malaysian flavours into the menu. Braised winter melon soup replaced the usual shark’s fin or herbal soup. The prawns were deep fried topped with Wasabi Mayonnaise Sauce while the fried rice dish was switched to a lighter yet appetizing Japanese-style garlic fried rice.

The seabass was initially prepared with a Mongolian recipe but we then changed it to Thai mango sauce to add some sweet, sour-ish spicyness into the menu. I would think that the herbal chicken was a firm favourite due to the moist tenderness of the chicken meat which was properly marinated with the Chinese herbs and braised to perfection.

My favourite, however, was certainly the dessert!

Greetings!

June 27, 2008

Hello! Welcome to my first post in our new blog. I said new because we previously maintained a blog which was hosted on Wordpress. In line with our revamped branding and website, we have also started a new blog on our own domain. Most people share the end results of their work, but I hope this blog would be a wonderful place for my team and me to share selected snapshots of experiences in our journey as planners, designers, producers and coordinators. The pain, challenges, successes, implementation and inspirations that come with not just producing successful events or beautiful weddings, but also the growing path of building a business, meeting new friends, travel discovery and more. From time to time, we’ll also use this channel to update you on our latest xperiential escapades, promotions, bridal fairs and more.

Our presence in the blogsphere is to complement our existing services and I want it to be entertaining, informative and interactive. So, yes, I’d like to hear from you too! After all, being a planner, these are the most relevant topics I could share. I know there isn’t much to read at the moment as the structure of this blog will slowly evolve and take on a personality of its own, just as weddings and events eventually do. So bookmark this site, stay tuned and come back for more.
