Vote EARTH & Support Earth Hour
March 23, 2009
Did you know that an increase of just one degree worldwide can leave the Artic ice-free for half a year? Take a minute to view this video by National Geographic.
Imagine what happens when the weather becomes chaotic. As a wedding planner, I understand how unpredictable the weather can be these days and it’s scary when we can no longer rely on weather forecast to plan ahead. Thunderstorms during dry seasons, extensive flash floods and extreme humidity. A garden wedding these days can no longer do without mist fans when the air is so humid. Having said that, weddings and parties are just a mere representation of how climate change can affect the outcome of happy celebrations.
Imagine, what would happen when chaotic weathers ruin plantations worldwide and cause shortage of food supply? Hurricanes that destroy homes and long periods of drought or heatwave can kill lives. Read the story of Gung Qiu Lai Jia whose life and that of his family are affected by climate change.
“Take the Maldives - a string of coral islands in the Indian Ocean which some scientists predict will be inundated completely within 30 years. Three of the archipelago’s 280 inhabited islands have already been evacuated.” -source, WWF -
It’s time to take action by being more ecological and environmental friendly. Start with your home. Use environmental bags when you go shopping and recycle plastic bottles. Conserve energy by saving electricity at home, at work or even when you’re on holiday. I get really annoyed when I go on a holiday and friends would insist on keeping the air conditioning system switched on even when we’re not in the room. The usual response is, “Already paid ma, just keep it on la…if not, it won’t be cold when we come back.”
These systems are some of the biggest culprits when it comes to wasting energy. -source, WWF -
Even when electrical appliances are on standby mode, they are still consuming power and energy! Items like the home PC, TV, CD player, phone chargers which we so often take for granted by switching it off, but not the main power sockets.
Pledge your support to increase the awareness of global warming and encourage energy conservation by participating in Earth Hour 2009. Turn off your lights this Saturday, 28 March 2009 for an hour from 8:30pm onwards.
WWF organisation is urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009. This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.

Wedding Song - “Two Words”
March 13, 2009
As soon as I saw this video, I knew I had to share it here! Remember the 90s when Lea Salonga became the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in the Aladdin theme song, “A Whole New World”. Not forgetting the all time favourite “We Could be in Love” duet with Brad Kane (I could never stop playing that song on my casette player in those days!)
Thanks to Kenneth Tan of Fabulous Chapter Photography who shared this in his FB. I had goosebumps watching her wedding video and listening to her angelic voice. Check it out here - Lea Salonga’s Two Words.
A beautiful song to consider when planning your wedding music. Have a great weekend, peps!
Luv luv..
